Rooster Booster was a beautiful grey, a racehorse of great distinction having won the UK's most prestigious hurdle race, the Champion Hurdle Race at Cheltenham in 2003. He was a great favourite with the public.
Philip Hobbs the trainer was kind enough to invite me to his Sandhills Racing Stables to view this kind and generous horse. Regretfully just a few months afterwards Rooster Booster collapsed and died whilst on the gallops.
My painting of him here was in oils which I felt was the best medium to capture the many subtle tones in his coat.
